Job summary

Vercel, the platform behind Next.js, is hiring an Engineering Team Lead to steer a small, high-performing team while staying close to code. You will guide architectural decisions, ship production-grade features, and mentor engineers across product areas from rendering to tooling.

This role blends technical leadership with hands-on development and contributor mentorship. You will collaborate with Product, Design, and Infrastructure teams, champion open source, and help grow the team.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience and hands-on, contributor-focused approach.
• Led engineers or small technical teams (team lead, staff engineer, etc.).
• Recent experience writing, reviewing, and shipping production code.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship Next.js; review PRs and debug issues.
• Lead major technical initiatives from exploration to production.
• Set technical direction across rendering, caching, routing, and tooling.
• Stay close to real problems: investigate performance and production issues.
