Ideal candidates have 5+ years of journalism, 2+ in editing, and a proven ability to mentor reporters, work with SEO and analytics, and maintain high standards under deadline pressure.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of journalism experience, including 2+ years in an editing role.
• Experience managing reporters and producing breaking news and exclusives.
• Tech-savvy with analytics tools, SEO, social media, and strategies for growing a digital audience.
• Legal and compliance awareness to ensure content meets standards.
• Fast-paced thinker who thrives under deadline pressure and stays collaborative.
• Clear sense of The US Sun's distinctive voice and tone.

Responsibilities

• Lead the news team by assigning stories and managing breaking news.
• Run morning editorial meetings and shape the daily news agenda.
• Collaborate with SEO, audience, video, and design teams to maximize reach.
• Develop reporters and editors through coaching and feedback.
• Prioritize original content and exclusives.
• Monitor performance across platforms and adapt strategy accordingly.
• Plan ahead for the news section and events coverage.
• Help build specialist sections such as motors and travel.
• Occasionally manage weekend or evening shifts for major events.
