Job summary

Autonomai Recruitment partners with a global market maker to hire a Senior Network Engineer in Chicago. This leadership role shapes the network Engineering team’s direction as the firm scales, blending deep networking with software development to deliver end-to-end automation and monitoring platforms.

You will own internal tools and web apps, drive architectural decisions, and work closely with engineering leadership to scale infrastructure in a fast-paced, trading-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Senior level experience independently leading large network initiatives.
• Strong traditional networking background (routing, switching, campus/DC/WAN).
• Strong software development experience - automation platforms, monitoring tooling, or internal tools/web apps you've built and maintained.
• Experience working in low latency, trading infrastructure, or mission critical environments.
• Comfort operating at a leadership level while staying technically hands-on.

Responsibilities

• Setting technical direction and vision for the network engineering team.
• Designing and building automation platforms and monitoring systems that the team runs on.
• Owning internal tools or web applications you've built to support network operations.
• Working closely with engineering leadership as the firm scales its infrastructure.
