Job summary

Jobtailor in Lexington Park, MD, is seeking a seasoned navigation acquisition professional to lead a multi-discipline team and coordinate across development, production, sustainment, and training IPTs. You will manage navigation requirements, architecture, ECPs, TDLs, and capability upgrades while ensuring DOD 5000-series compliance.

The role requires 8+ years in defense acquisition, 3+ years in Navy acquisition management, and a current Secret clearance (TS preferred).

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years' professional experience in Defense acquisition.
• Minimum 3 years in support of Navy Acquisition management.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; associate degree with 4 years experience may substitute.
• Current Secret clearance; TS clearance preferred.
• Knowledge of acquisition policies and procedures.
• Experience with CNS-ATM / GATM.
• Understanding of DoD 5000 series requirements.
• Proven ability to work with large, diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers and program staff.
• Report to the VMS Flight Management Lead Systems Engineer; fallback to Air Vehicle Team Lead when needed.
• Coordinate across Development, Production, Sustainment and Training IPTs.
• Manage a team of navigation subject matter experts.
• Oversee navigation requirements, architecture, ECPs, TDs, and navigation capability upgrades.
• Oversee life cycle development and SETR processes, including critical design reviews.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Work with a team of driven, supportive and highly skilled professionals.
• Report to the VMS Flight Management Lead Systems Engineer and in their absence, directly to the Air Vehicle Team Lead.
• Responsible for coordination across Development, Production, Sustainment and Training IPTs.
• Manage a team of navigation subject matter experts.
• Manage navigation requirements and architecture, Engineering Change proposal (ECP), Technical Directive (TD) Technical Direction Letter (TDL) products and navigation capability upgrades.
• Manage capabilities include life cycle development and System Engineering Technical Review (SETR) process including critical design reviews.

Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in Defense acquisition.
• A minimum of three (3) years in support of Navy Acquisition management.
• Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• An associate’s degree and an additional four (4) years of experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
• Must have a current Secret clearance, TS preferred.
• Knowledgeable of acquisition policies and procedures.
• Experience with Communications, Navigation, Surveillance, Air Traffic Management (CNS-ATM) / Global Air Traffic Management (GATM).
• Demonstrated knowledge of the requirements of the DOD 5000 series.
• Demonstrated ability to work with large and diverse teams.
