Job summary

NextGenEnergyJobs in the United States is seeking a senior modeling engineer to lead the development of integrated fuel cycle models for power plants. You will build models of unit operations, implement multi-effects, and create simulation tools to guide targeted R&D.

The role owns the modeling tools, validates outputs, collaborates across teams, defines milestones, and communicates results through standard engineering documents. Travel and occasional nights/weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher with 10+ years in chemical/ mechanical engineering, physics, materials science, physical chemistry or similar.
• 10+ years experience modeling process systems.
• 10+ years experience in computer programming.
• Expertise with transport phenomena and chemical processes in gases; demonstrated integrated models.
• Proven experience evangelizing solutions and coordinating across teams.
• Experience building and managing large data sets.
• Understanding of scalable simulations; track record in version control.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform seated/standing/typing activities.
• Commitment to safety to mitigate industrial hazards; willingness to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of an integrated power plant fuel cycle model.
• Develop models for unit operations and multi-effects in components.
• Create simulation tools to enable targeted R&D for fuel cycle technologies.
• Own the fuel cycle simulation tools and models; validate outputs.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure models are feasible, economic, and state-of-the-art.
• Communicate processes and layouts for fueling subsystem blocks through standard docs.
• Generate detailed work plans with milestones integrated with R&D for validated models.
• Provide guidance to colleagues on using modeling tools and outputs.
• Identify trends and opportunities; influence modeling strategy.
