The Florida Department of Health in Jacksonville is seeking a Biological Administrator II - SES -64026383 to lead the state’s molecular microbiology efforts.

This senior role directs supervision and technical management of Molecular/General/Environmental Microbiology and TB/Mycobacteriology in the Bureau of Public Health Laboratories and collaborates with the Jacksonville Virology supervisor and CDC programs.

Qualifications

• Minimum - Eligible for clinical laboratory or public health license.
• Preferred - Hold a clinical laboratory or public health license.

Responsibilities

• Lead molecular microbiology testing services and supervise Molecular/General/Environmental Microbiology and TB/Mycobacteriology sections.
• Coordinate sequencing activities (PCR, DNA sequencing, WGS) with PulseNet, AMD, NARMS, ARLN and CDC programs.
• Develop and monitor grants, budgets, workplans and milestones; report progress and deliverables.
• Oversee staff training, performance evaluations, scheduling, and disciplinary actions as needed.
• Ensure QA/QC programs, SOPs, safety standards and appropriate facilities/equipment.
