Job summary

The Lead Mitigation Technician at Kustom leads emergency and non-emergency restoration projects, supervising crews and coordinating operations on water, mold, and fire remediation. This role emphasizes safety, paperwork, equipment setup, and moisture monitoring until completion.

Candidates should hold IICRC water certification, have supervisory experience, and be able to travel and work nights/weekends as needed.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of supervisory experience in restoration/construction.
  • Experience with MICA, Dash or similar water mitigation software.
  • Knowledge of basic construction safety.
  • Proficient with communication devices and technology.
  • Strong problem solving, leadership and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel; ability to work nights and weekends.
  • Detail oriented with ability to interpret mold assessment protocols.
  • Eligible to operate a company vehicle.

Position Overview

The Lead Mitigation Technician is responsible for supervising work on emergency and non-emergency service jobs to perform advanced techniques for water and fire mitigation, as well as remediate areas damaged by mold, water or fire. Responsibilities include maintaining a fully stocked and prepared company vehicle to drive to work sites, obtaining necessary paperwork, preparing work areas for demolition, cleaning, equipment setup, drying and continually monitoring moisture levels until project completion.

Responsibilities

The Lead Mitigation Technician will perform the following duties along with any additional duties as assigned by management per business needs:

  • Oversee emergency water extraction services.
  • Clean up and debris removal of drywall, cabinetry, and flooring that may be damaged.
  • Perform demolition tasks.
  • Responsible for the setup of emergency services equipment.
  • Effectively supervise crew members and other employees on job sites.
  • Adheres to EPA, OSHA and local requirements regarding safety and hazardous materials handling.
  • Direct the teams in the use of the right PPE for the job.
  • Review the daily requirements of projects, document progress and notify managers of progress and challenges encountered.
  • Inspect all jobs on a weekly basis or as needed for quality control, safety and compliance.
  • Provide appropriate field documentation and sketches for all projects.
  • Develop humidity content records, complete psychrometry records and determine the drying objectives.
  • Calculate the cubic meters of the affected parts of the building and request additional support in projects affected by large water losses.
  • Responsible for maintenance and repair of drying equipment.
  • Monitor consumable material stock.
  • Perform daily inspections of vehicle safety and maintenance and keep these clean and in perfect conditions of use.
Qualifications
  • IICRC water certification required.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience in the restoration construction industry.
  • Experience using MICA, Dash or any other related water mitigation software.
  • Understanding of basic construction safety.
  • Ability to effectively use communication devices and technology.
  • Excellent problem solving, leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to be flexible and adaptable based on business needs.
  • Ability to work with time constraints to meet specific deadlines.
  • Ability to travel and work at night and during weekends.
  • Deep knowledge of the principles and practices of customer service.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret mold assessment protocols for remediation work.
  • Eligible to operate a vehicle per company policy.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
  • Ability to lift 50 LBS and occasionally climb ladders, bend, kneel, and work in extremely hot, cold and humid conditions.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
Environmental Conditions
  • Exposure to outdoor conditions, including inclement weather.
  • Ability to work in a construction environment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high; ear protection is worn as needed.
