Job summary

HAZELWOOD MIDDLE SCHOOL in New Albany, IN is seeking a Head Coach for Middle School Wrestling. Immediate start. The role involves coaching, coordinating practice schedules, enforcing rules, and promoting sportsmanship within the athletics program.

The ideal candidate has high school/collegiate coaching experience, knowledge of NFHS/IHSSA rules, and strong organizational and communication skills. This is a part-time position with responsibilities across games, clinics, and fundraising activities.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching at high school or collegiate level preferred.
• Knowledge of NFHS, IHSSA, and other applicable rules/regulations.
• Knowledge of basic First Aid and athletic training practices.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to communicate with students, teachers, coaches and community.
• Alternatives to the above may be acceptable as determined by administration.

Responsibilities

• Coaches athletes in mechanics and skills for competitive sport.
• Coordinates and supervises a regular practice schedule.
• Encourages sportsmanship and team unity; enforces guidelines.
• Enforces discipline per contest, school, conference and state rules.
• Supervises coaching staff and supports professional development.
• Oversees safety and accountability for students and facilities on and off campus.
• Maintains records of uniforms, equipment, stats, and accomplishments.
• Submits forms and athletic documents; recommends equipment purchases.
• Attends required meetings and clinics for coaches and state/conference events.
• Supports athletic department administration, staff, athletes, and parents with schedules.
• Develops a total K-12 program through camps, drills and training.
• Coordinates fundraising with the Athletic Director for communication with stakeholders.
• Performs other duties as assigned; maintains alcohol/drug-free workplace.
