Job summary

Hood River Middle School is seeking a Boys Basketball Head Coach for 1.0 FTE to lead the program, coach players, and coordinate with the Athletic Director and volunteers. The role includes planning practices, developing competitive schedules, and fostering sportsmanship and academics among student-athletes.

You will organize rosters, oversee equipment, ensure safety, and communicate effectively with parents, students, and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
• Experience coaching youth basketball preferred.
• NFHS/ASEP certifications required; safety trainings completed.
• Ability to communicate effectively with athletes, parents and staff.
• Knowledge of middle school basketball rules and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Leads practice sessions during the season with clear goals.
• Works with parents, coaches, staff and support programs.
• Assists with facilities care and equipment purchases.
• Develops season schedule and conducts preseason meetings.
• Organizes rosters and monitors student discipline and sportsmanship.
• Communicates effectively with students, parents, officials and staff.
