Job summary

Kansas City School District is seeking a Middle School Head Boys Basketball Coach to lead the athletic program at Northeast Middle School. You will promote student-athlete growth, program excellence, and alignment with district goals while developing sport-specific skills and teamwork.

The role requires coaching credentials, adherence to MSHSAA standards, and ongoing professional development. This is a full-time seasonal position within the Athletics department.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and philosophy of the sport; coaching approach.
• Completion of MSHSAA/NFHS Coaching Principles and Sports First Aid Courses.
• Strong commitment to student-athlete development and eligibility rules.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate sport with a full team ensuring MSHSAA compliance.
• Assist in implementing athletic standards per MSHSAA Handbook.
• Coordinate the athletic program and supervise students at practices/contests.
• Provide transportation, facilities, officials, and game management information.
• Schedule practice sessions to develop student-athletes’ potential.
• Emphasize safety and injury management procedures.
• Model ethical conduct and sportsmanship at all times.
• Oversee return of school equipment per KCMSD guidelines.
• Pursue professional growth through clinics and publications.
• Complete required coaching courses.
