The Role
Are you passionate about solving complex problems? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment? Join our Software Engineering – Development team at Kyndryl as a COBOL Mainframe Application Developer. You will support development on existing Payroll (Autopay) systems, create and document programming specs, fix defects, and provide work estimates. You will also lead technical efforts, assign work, assist team members, and ensure timely and correct installation of all work.

Who You Are
You have extensive COBOL experience, technical leadership skills, and familiarity with Payroll concepts. You are legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. You are committed to personal and professional growth, customer success, and delivering exceptional results.

Primary Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, develop, test, and deploy mainframe code (z/OS).
• Translate user requirements into technical solutions.
• Provide technical assistance and maintain documentation.
• Mentor other developers and ensure proper change management.
• Lead team efforts to deliver work on time and accurately.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call support, including night and weekend support.

Required Skills And Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• At least 8 years of COBOL programming in an IBM z/OS environment.
• Experience with technical leadership and Payroll concepts.
• Knowledge of mainframe technologies: COBOL, Assembler, DB2, CICS, VSAM, FTP, MQ, Changeman.
• Experience with software development lifecycle and methodologies (Agile, Waterfall).

The compensation range varies by location, with specific ranges provided for states like California, Colorado, New York City, and Washington. The role includes eligibility for bonuses and benefits, and applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
