Job summary

Petco is seeking a Senior Merchandising Financial Planner to own the most complex financial plans and OTB decisions for assigned categories. You will coach 2–4 planners and partner with Merchants and Inventory teams to drive margin and GMROI improvements.

The role emphasizes hands-on financial modeling, open-to-buy governance, and pricing strategy within a matrixed leadership framework. Strong analytics and mentoring skills are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Merchandising, Supply Chain, or related quantitative field.
• 5–8+ years in merchandise financial planning, retail financial planning, or inventory finance within an omnichannel specialty retail environment.
• Leadership Readiness: demonstrated success directing workload, reviewing deliverables, and mentoring junior analysts — formal management experience not required.
• System Fluency: expert in enterprise planning engines, Profit Mind (or comparable AI pricing/elasticity platforms), SQL, and advanced financial modeling.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver 52-week multi-channel MFP for top categories.
• Direct Open-to-Buy governance and capital deployment decisions.
• Model ROI, elasticity, and cannibalization for promotions.
• Lead planning pod direction and cadence with 2–4 planners.
• Mentor junior analysts and ensure model quality and consistency.
