Job summary

South Carolina Department of Corrections seeks a Mental Health Professional II at KCIICS to provide crisis intervention and ongoing mental health services within a correctional setting. You will collaborate with program managers, medical staff, and custody personnel to ensure continuity of care and safety.

Responsibilities include conducting daily evaluations, leading groups, on-call coverage, and adhering to policy using C-SSRS and CISP tools.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field.
• Professional experience in a mental health, human service or social service program.
• Must be licensed as LPC-A, LPC, LMSW, LISW, or LMFT or higher.
• Have comparable out of state licensure with eligibility for SCLLR license which must be obtained within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Lead MHP II at KCIICS and collaborate with Program Manager, Operations, Medical & other institutional staff.
• Perform supportive services for crisis inmates, conduct daily mental health evaluations, participate in weekly treatment team/tele-psych.
• Assist with custody related duties including supervision of recreation and suicide watch.
• May conduct two groups per day and out-of-cell activities.
• Attend divisional meetings and staff training; participate in on-call services including onsite, after hours, and weekends.
• Will utilize the C-SSRS and CISP screen according to policy.
• Must successfully complete four weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.
