Job summary

North Mississippi Health Services is seeking a Medical Technologist Lead to support scheduling, quality control, maintenance programs, and workflow organization within the pathology lab. The role includes ensuring proper transport of lab supplies, equipment, and specimens while adhering to applicable laws and regulations.

The Lead MT will coordinate phlebotomist workflow, serve as Charge MT in supervisor absence, and ensure accurate patient identification and labeling across specimens.

Qualifications

• Assists with scheduling, quality control, maintenance programs and workflow organization.
• Ensures accurate patient identification and labeling in specimen handling.
• Communicates effectively with NMHS staff and patients.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates workflow of phlebotomists in Specimen Processing area.
• Serves as Charge Medical Technologist in absence of supervisor or Lead MT.
• Assures accurate and efficient transportation of lab-related supplies, equipment and specimens.
• Follows all laws and regulations in processing and transportation of laboratory specimens.
• Follows regulatory guidelines in handling/processing of laboratory specimens.
• Follows proper policy for accurate patient identification and labeling of all specimens.
• Effectively communicate with NMHS staff, patients and their families.
• Attends CARES training and ensures proper service recovery when needed.
• Works as part of a team with all Pathology and NMHS employees.
• Assures department testing is reported accurately and timely.
• Assists with Performance Improvement initiatives and documentation of instrument maintenance.
