Job summary

University of Miami is seeking a Medical Technologist - Lead to perform complex microbiological, molecular, and immunological tests on body specimens for diagnostic and treatment data. The role supports QA, instrument maintenance, and provides training and mentorship to technologists.

The incumbent will lead the lab areas, manage daily workflow, and collaborate with pathologists for evaluation and sign-out, while ensuring compliance with policies and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Florida Medical Technologist License is required.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to work evenings, nights and weekends.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and/or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Verifies identification of specimens with orders and prepares specimens for testing.
• Analyzes results of testing and interprets abnormal or unusual results.
• Researches and prepares pertinent patient data and refers data/results to pathologists for evaluation.
• Calibrates equipment, orders supplies, and maintains inventory of materials.
• Assists lead duties and mentors staff in laboratory techniques.
• Orients and trains employees on laboratory techniques and operations.
• Maintains QA/QC data and adheres to policies.
• Ensures timely Turnaround Time and proper data reporting.
