MIpNS is regarded as the leading specialized group of providers with expertise in both outpatient and facility-based GU & geriatric pelvic medicine.

Position Summary:

As a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Lead Laboratory Technician, your duties include performing urine PCR testing and overseeing urinalysis testing conducted by Medical Assistants. All instrumentation used are the 2023 models of Thermo Fisher’s PCR platform.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs testing with accuracy and ensures reporting through LIS into patient charts.
  • Performs QC and QA.
  • Assists the physician director in meeting department regulatory agency requirements (CAP, CLIA, etc.).
  • Calibrates, cleans, and performs controls on all clinical instrumentation as required for proper operation and maintenance.
  • Maintains accurate logs and records as required for CLIA certification.
  • Keeps supplies fully stocked.
  • Organizes and accesses specimens and paperwork, keeping records of tests.
  • Responsible for reagent preparation within the section.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
  • Certification through ASCP as an MLT or MLS is required and will be verified before employment.
  • Minimum of one-year relevant experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with Clinical Laboratory experience required.

Knowledge, Competencies & Skills:

  • Ability to multi-task, self-motivation, reliability, and accountability in meeting timelines.
  • Excellent computer software, LIS, and data analysis/QC practice skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal & written.
  • Must demonstrate a high level of professionalism.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance.

Travel: This is a fully onsite position with no travel required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to sit and stand for extended periods.
  • Involves standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, and twisting.
  • Requires full range of body motion, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Finger dexterity is required to manipulate objects with fingers.
  • Sharp focus to adjust vision for close work that varies in distance.
