Target salary rate is $23 hourly DOE.
Bilingual (English / Spanish) highly preferred.
Experience in supervising other medical assistants in Family Practice preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Medical Assistant (MA) reports administratively to the Clinic Administrator. S/he performs duties under the direction of the Medical Providers and/or Registered Nurse (R.N.) in examination and treatment of patients. Provides clinical services such as TB skin tests and administration of specific prescribed medication under the supervision of the medical provider and/or R.N. Draws blood, gives injections, administers skin tests, immunization and obtains certain laboratory specimens. Prepares patients for doctors examination, positions instruments and assist physician. S/he takes medical history of patients and checks vital signs. May schedule appointments and keep x-ray and medical records.
The MA, at minimum, will attend ongoing trainings in using the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH). S/he will review patient satisfaction surveys and implement necessary improvement plans to reach required thresholds. S/he will perform other duties as assigned.
For a Lead M.A., S/he will be responsible for the supervision of other M.A.s. The MA will participate in Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement (QA/QI) and Quality Measures (QM) meetings.
REQUIREMENTS: Ability to perform skillfully and effectively the duties of a Medical Assistant. Work effectively with individuals and follow oral and written directions. Mature judgement, tact, discretion, and confidentiality are mandatory. Position requires a professional, pleasant, and effective representation of the corporation. S/he must have knowledge of Child Health and Disability Prevention Program (CHDP) guidelines, Immunizations Schedule, and AAP periodicity table. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must submit to and pass a drug test, fitness for duty and a criminal background clearance as a pre-condition for employment. Must be able to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination and booster, Hepatitis B, MMR, TDAP vaccine and a recent TB test. First Aid/BLS certification required.
QUALIFICATIONS: Diploma; completion of an accredited medical assistance certification program is required. Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) is preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
