GENERAL OVERVIEW:

As a member of the healthcare team, the Medical Assistant Lead provides clinical oversight and guidance at large multi-site practices. Oversees onboarding and training for new medical assistants, educates staff on workflows, policies, and procedures, and coordinates schedules. Collaborates with Practice Management to ensure ongoing education and provides leadership and mentorship to Medical Assistants, assessing their clinical skills and recommending additional training as needed.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Oversee onboarding and training for new medical assistants, students, and interns. Promote patient satisfaction, staff development, and positive employee relations. Serve as a clinical resource for workflows and policies.
  2. Provide clinical oversight, participate in performance reviews, and manage staff schedules. Identify educational gaps and facilitate training.
  3. Act as an EHR superuser, educating staff on workflows and accurately documenting patient interactions and updates, including medication reconciliation and problem lists, in compliance with standards.
  4. Prepare and room patients, obtain vital signs, document information, and demonstrate proficiency in pre-visit planning and documentation workflows.
  5. Assist in patient care coordination, procedures, and provider support. Guide staff in these functions.
  6. Follow up with patients as per provider instructions, notify patients of test results, and mentor staff for positive patient interactions.
  7. Manage inventory of medical supplies, ensuring stock levels meet standards.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1-year certificate from a college or technical school
  • Certified Medical Assistant
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records
  • CPR certification (American Heart Association)
  • Act 34, 33, and 73 Criminal Background Clearances
