Alignment Health seeks a Lead Medical Assistant to support member care and lead clinic operations. You will mentor staff, assist with onboarding, and drive efficient patient flow in a fast-paced clinic environment.

You’ll handle comprehensive intake, eligibility checks, scheduling, EMR documentation, and HEDIS-related activities, while delivering exceptional member service and coordinating care across providers.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of Medical Assistant experience, preferably in a physician office with managed care knowledge.
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program and MA certification or LVN/LPN preferred.
  • MA Certification or LVN/LPN Certification; CPR/First Aid Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor Medical Assistants; support onboarding and training.
  • Assist with weekly/monthly operational reporting and infection logs.
  • Oversee daily clinic operations to ensure smooth patient flow and checkout processes.
  • Manage patient flow including rooming, intake, and scheduling in EMR.
  • Support care coordination, referrals, chronic disease program enrollment, and member services.

Alignment Health is seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Medical Assistant to support exceptional member care while helping drive efficient clinic operations. This role offers the opportunity to combine hands-on patient care with leadership responsibilities, serving as a key resource for the care team and helping ensure an outstanding experience for every member.

What You'll Do
Leadership & Clinic Operations
  • Support the onboarding and training of new Medical Assistants as assigned by leadership.
  • Assist with weekly and monthly operational reporting, including infection control logs and administrative reporting.
  • Help oversee daily clinic operations to ensure a smooth and efficient patient experience.
  • Manage patient flow throughout the clinic, supporting timely rooming, intake, and checkout processes.
  • Partner with the Operations Manager to maintain inventory levels for medical and office supplies.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for the clinic team in the absence of management.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and share best practices that enhance team performance and member satisfaction.
Patient Care & Member Support
  • Complete comprehensive patient intake activities with demonstrated competency.
  • Perform patient check-in and checkout functions, including eligibility verification, appointment scheduling, confirmations, EMR documentation, and arrival processing.
  • Complete HEDIS-related activities and other clinical alerts assigned to the Medical Assistant role in accordance with established protocols, including management of home monitoring systems when applicable.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by supporting members with care coordination needs, referrals, chronic disease management program enrollment, and other healthcare services.
  • Assist members with questions, concerns, complaints, and coordination of services across Alignment clinics, primary care providers, network providers, and the health plan.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Experience:
  • 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant preferably in a physician office including working knowledge of managed care.
Preferred:
  • Experience working with Medicare population preferred.
  • Experience working with internal medicine offices.
Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
Training:
Required:
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
Preferred:
  • LVN/LPN or other higher nursing certifications accepted as well.
Required Specialized Skills:
  • Ability to communicate positively, professionally, and effectively while providing leadership, coaching, and collaboration.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build constructive relationships with members, employees, leadership, vendors, and community partners.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and basic statistical analysis.
  • Strong critical thinking and reasoning skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and resolve complex issues effectively.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Licensure:
Required:
  • MA Certification or LVN/LPN Certification
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
Preferred:
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish)

Pay Range:

Pay Range: $44,987.00 - $67,480.00 Pay range may be based on a number of factors including market location, education, responsibilities, experience, etc.
