Job summary

Palomar Health Medical Group is seeking a Lead Medical Assistant in California. Qualifications

  • Successful completion of Medical Assistant Certificate program.
  • Minimum 2 years medical assistant experience.
  • Bilingual - Spanish preferred.
  • Valid CA State Phlebotomy License (CPT) preferred.
  • Certified CA State Medical Assistant and American Heart Association BLS - Heartsaver.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for the medical assistant team and clinic staff.
  • Assist in intake and setup for patient visits.
  • Train and mentor new staff; coordinate performance reviews.
  • Oversee dispensary logs, inventory, and supply stock.
  • Assist with scheduling, referrals, and patient follow-ups.
  • Perform administrative tasks and quality assurance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, laws, and Palomar Health standards.
  • Support ongoing quality improvement initiatives using PDSA methods.

Job Description: Pay Range: $28.66-$40.12

Job Summary

Under direct supervision of the office manager, and clinical direction of an RN, LVN, physician assistant or physician, The Lead Medical Assistant is required to perform all duties of the Medical Assistant and functions as the resource person to the non-licensed staff; acts as a liaison between management and staff.

This position assist with training new staff, keeps manager apprised of early personnel issues.

Provide support for the medical assistant team, which includes all functions of a medical assistant.

Assist in the supervision of work and performance of clinic staff including, medical assistants and other support staff, as instructed, including input for performance reviews and corrective action plans as needed.

Oversee and trains and mentors new and existing staff along with the clinic manager.

Assist with intake, and set-up for patient visits.

Assist with the training of students and volunteer staff Assist in providing on-going supervision to same staff.

Assist as needed including medication refill requests, specialty, and procedure referrals, pre and post-clinic chart review.

Review charts, lab test results, encounter forms for completeness, and assess follow-up as needed.

Ensures that expired medications are disposed of properly.

Assist with clinic scheduling problem solving, patient wait times, and other areas of concern to increase efficient and quality services.

Assist with the coordination of work for follow up on missed appointments, reminder calls, referrals.

Assist with tracking specimen logbook. Works collaboratively with clinic staff on programs to improve patient outcomes.

Assists in organizing and participating in quality improvement activities using the PDSA model to improve systems/services.

Perform other administrative tasks and clinical care as assigned by the Practice Manager.

Work with Practice Manager to oversee dispensary logs and storage to maintain quality assurance.

Coordinate the inventory, ordering and supply stock maintenance of medical supplies.

Assist with other administrative projects and tasks as needed.

Assists with daily and monthly quality assurance reviews.

Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Ability to speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position.

Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e-mail).

Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop-down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job.

Performs other duties as assigned.
