Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by CAAHEP/ABHES or equivalent
• Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve designation within 6 months of hire
• Valid American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to medical assistants and staff
• Schedule and assign medical assistants to ensure appropriate staffing
• Train medical assistants and serve as a resource to clinical providers
• Participate in interview processes for clinical hires
• Train and orient new employees
• Manage clinic flow to ensure timely patient visits
• Educate clinic patients in a accurate, culturally sensitive manner
• Oversee coordination of care and follow-up on test results
• Perform related duties as required

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

The Dermatology Clinic at UW Medical Center – Roosevelt provides comprehensive dermatological care for patients with various skin conditions.

We evaluate all skin conditions, from general to specialized care, for patientsfrom all age groups. We also have specialized clinicsfor the evaluation and treatment of hair loss,atypical moles, naildisorders, cutaneous lymphomas,contact dermatitis and dermatology/rheumatology overlap conditions.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide leadership to medical assistants
• Schedule and assign medical assistants to ensure appropriate staffing
• Train medical assistants and others and serve as a resource to other clinical providers
• Participate in the interview process for medical assistants and other clinical hires
• Train and orient new employees
• Manage clinic flow using organizational ability to effectively prioritize work tasks to ensure that patients are seen in a timely manner and that clinic needs are met
• Provide accurate, appropriate, and culturally sensitive education to clinic patients
• Oversee coordination of care by assisting providers in the maintenance of clinic processes to ensure timely follow-up on reported test results
• Perform related duties as required

REQUIREMENTS

• Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent
• Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
• Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card
