Job summary

Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a Medical Assistant lead to oversee clinical operations in a large multi-physician practice.

Responsibilities include preparing exam rooms, assisting with examinations, directing patient flow and coordinating care per department guidelines. The role requires three years of related experience, CMA/RMA/NHA/AMT credentials with in-person proctored exams, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Registered or Certified Medical Assistant with three years of related work experience.
• Medical Assistant credentials from NHA, AAMA or AMT with in-person proctored exams.
• Ability to show proof of certification within six months of hire date.
• Basic Life Support certification required.

Responsibilities

• Interacts directly with patients in clinic setting and completes tasks, which may include obtaining vital signs, conducting EKGs, completing a phlebotomy and verifying medications.
• Prepares for office hours by doing tasks such as obtaining charts, scheduling tests and preparing exam rooms.
• Assists with examinations, procedures and lab tests.
• May administer medications under the order of physicians or nurse practitioner (this includes vaccines and intramuscular and subcutaneous injections).
• Directs patient flow, assists with special procedures/treatments, and completes requisitions.
• Monitors supply inventory, ensuring adequate supplies, equipment or garments are available and that they comply with regulations.
