Paycom - ATS is seeking a Lead Medical Assistant (LMA) in West Lafayette, IN to support clinical workflows and mentor MA staff. Under the Practice Manager, you will coordinate scheduling, maintain EMR processes, and ensure high-quality patient care across sites.

You will handle patient flow, assist with chart reviews, and contribute to training and compliance while maintaining professional standards and strong communication with patients and team members.

Qualifications

  • Two years of patient care experience.
  • Experience with outpatient clinic workflow and scheduling.
  • Willing to travel between multiple sites; BLS Certified.

General Description

With guidance from the Practice Manager, the LMA assists with overseeing clinical workflows, mentors Medical Assistants, and helps implement policies and protocols that enhance efficiency, compliance, and patient safety. In addition to performing standard MA duties such as taking vitals, preparing patients for exams, administering medications, and assisting with procedures, the LMA coordinates staffing, supports training, manages inventory, and contributes to quality improvement initiative feedback.

Job Requirements
  • Responsible for high quality clinical care- competency with obtaining vital signs, collecting medical history, administering injections, and phlebotomy.
  • Responsible for the coordination of clinical services including but not limited to patient access, scheduling, EMR management
  • Responsible for the day to day patient flow and operations; Ensure staff is working productively and professionally.
  • Monitor patient through-put, wait times and satisfaction; Collaborate with clinic manager to implement/evaluate improvement projects as necessary.
  • Responsible for providing high quality patient care.
  • Responsible for supply management- medical supplies, in house- medications, office supplies, laboratory supplies; managing vendor accounts
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with HIPAA; overseeing medical records requests
  • Assists with mentoring and training MA team.
  • Coordinate, assign, and monitor clinical and administrative tasks for MA staff
  • Communicates clinic concerns to site manager for escalation.
  • Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs, and reporting to the Practice Coordinator.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge
  • Ability to provide patients with timely responses, clear and professional communication, and a steadfast willingness to find solutions to all problems.
  • Strong communication skills, including active listening and empathy, to effectively address patient needs and concerns and coordinate care.
  • Proficient in basic technology (Microsoft products, etc).
  • Ability or willingness to learn patient engagement software / customer service systems that enable omnichannel (text, phone, video, email) communication with patients and teammates.
  • Ability or willingness to learn basic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently with excellent organizational skills.
  • Must possess a strong sense of professionalism
  • Must thrive in a team dynamic
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
  • Ability to follow written or verbal step-by-step instructions
  • Ability to concentrate, think, and learn
  • Ability to hear, see, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, lift, push, and pull.
Qualifications/ Experience
  • Two years of patient care experience
