Job summary

Humana Inc.- CenterWell Senior Primary Care is seeking a Lead Medical Assistant to serve as the first contact for patient care, handling both clinical tasks and administrative responsibilities. You will lead an administrative work group, perform phlebotomy, vital signs, and vaccine administration, and ensure accurate documentation in the electronic medical records system.

The role includes mentoring staff, coordinating workflows, and contributing to process improvements within a patient-facing

Qualifications

  • Certified or registered phlebotomy experience.
  • Medication/vaccine administration experience.
  • 3+ years MA experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • CPR certification.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (pass proficiency exam).

Responsibilities

  • Discuss symptoms with patients and obtain vital signs.
  • Perform phlebotomy and collect specimens.
  • Administer medications or vaccines when allowed by certification.
  • Sterilize and clean equipment; maintain examination rooms and EHR documentation.
  • Collaborate with Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers.
  • Mentor other Medical Assistants and provide guidance on processes.

The Lead Medical Assistant is the first contact for patient care. Responsible for administrative tasks in addition to patient care. The Lead Medical Assistant assumes ownership and leads advanced and specialized administrative, operational, and customer support responsibilities that require independent initiative and judgment. The Lead Medical Assistant performs clinical responsibilities. These tasks include discussing symptoms, obtaining vital signs, and medication/vaccine administration. Additionally, they perform phlebotomy, collect specimens, and conduct diagnostic screening tests. The Assistant is also responsible for sterilizing and cleaning equipment, maintaining examination rooms, and documenting information into the electronic medical records system. Collaborate with Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers. Deliver direct patient care dependent on what active certification allows. Decisions are regarding the daily priorities for an administrative work group and external vendors. These decisions include coordinating work activities and monitoring progress towards schedules/goals. Additionally, they may be the primary administrative owner of a main process, program, product, or technology. The Lead Medical Assistant has advanced knowledge and contributes to process improvement. They deliver in-depth education and provide advanced guidance/mentoring to other Medical Assistants. Requirements
  • Certified or Registered Phlebotomy Experience
  • Medication/vaccine administration experience
  • 3+ years MA Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • CPR Certified
Preferred
  • 1+ years MA experience in PCO center
  • Value Based Care experience including knowledge of HEDIS, CPT/ICD coding, and CAHPS/HOS Patient Experience

Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish - must pass proficiency exam prior to foreign language communication

Additional Information: This role is considered patient-facing and is part of the company's Tuberculosis (TB) screening program. If selected for this role, you will be required to be screened for TB

Scheduled Weekly Hours 40

Pay Range: The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc. $48,300 - $65,900 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
