Job summary

Textron Systems, a Textron company, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Technician to support unmanned surface systems and related craft. This full-time role emphasizes hands-on assembly, maintenance, testing, and documentation in a fast-paced lab and on-water environment.

The candidate should have an Associate Degree in Mechanical/Engineering Technology and at least five years of technician experience with mechanical assemblies. Travel up to 50% and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Mechanical/Engineering Technology preferred.
• Five+ years of technician experience with mechanical or electro-mechanical assemblies required.
• Willing to travel (50%).
• Boating or shipboard experience strongly preferred.
• Experience assembling maritime systems strongly preferred.
• Experience on Diesel Engines strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of test instrumentation, hand tools, and laboratory practices required.
• Professional written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasking.
• Ability to work extended hours to meet program goals.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot ocean-going Unmanned Surface Systems and support craft.
• Assist Engineers and Designers with prototype development and testing.
• Support offsite qualification testing per procedures.
• Develop operational and technical manuals.
• Interface with customers and service members at demonstrations.
• Perform lab maintenance, safety audits, and material tracking.
• Promote a safety-first mindset on-site and off-site.
