Job summary

Staffmark is seeking a Lead Mechanical Technician in Elgin, IL. The role focuses on leading end-to-end assembly of prototype equipment, interpreting CAD drawings and specifications, and guiding technicians through complex assemblies.

The position requires 7+ years of mechanical assembly experience, leadership in engineering environments, strong CAD skills, and a deep understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and automation systems. Excellent problem-solving and safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of mechanical assembly experience.
• Prior leadership experience in a prototype, engineering, or advanced manufacturing environment.
• Advanced CAD and mechanical troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and automation systems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Strong knowledge of machining, materials, tolerances, and fabrication methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end assembly of prototype equipment and mechanical systems.
• Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications.
• Modify, assemble, troubleshoot, and test complex mechanical assemblies.
• Work with sheet metal components, machining processes, and fabrication methods.
• Support automation, hydraulic, and pneumatic system integration.
• Assist with project estimating, labor planning, and cost control.
• Mentor and train technicians on assembly processes and best practices.
• Drive continuous improvement, quality standards, and workplace safety.
