Job summary

Riot Platforms in Rockdale, TX seeks a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Mechanical Systems to own design reviews, deployment, commissioning, and lifecycle maintenance of the campus mechanical infrastructure. Qualifications

• 5+ years in mechanical systems within critical infrastructure, heavy industrial, power generation, or data center environments.
• Experience with hyperscale or enterprise data center mechanical plant is strongly preferred.
• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering; PE/CEM/CxA or equivalent certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical strategy for campus mechanical systems, including heat rejection and large-scale cooling deployments.
• Apply heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics to validate system performance against design intent.
• Review mechanical drawings, P&IDs, equipment submittals, and vendor selections to identify issues before field deployment.
• Support customer rack deployments with mechanical and project management support from capacity planning through thermal turnover.
• Act as the expert on pumps, fans, motors, VFD controls, bearings, seals, and couplings for reliable operation of rotating assets.
• Own piping system integrity, including valve selection, hydraulic modeling, and joint/weld standards.
• Define and optimize control sequences and alarm thresholds; collaborate on PLC/BMS setpoints and interlocks.
• Support commissioning with factory witness testing, hydro-testing, and thermal validation under load.
• Lead RCA for mechanical and thermal incidents; develop CI roadmap and predictive maintenance program.
• Establish preventive maintenance protocols and water treatment programs to protect infrastructure.
• Develop enterprise SOPs, MOPs, EOPs and training for site technicians on mechanical systems.
• Ensure compliance with ASME B31, ASHRAE, NFPA, lockout/tagout and confined space standards.
