Base pay range

Meta is seeking a Lead Mechanical Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our Data Center Facility Operations team. The candidate will lead and manage a team of mechanical SMEs, overseeing mechanical system operations, troubleshooting, repairs, and projects. Essential knowledge includes chiller systems, evaporative and DX cooling, water systems, emergency generators, fire suppression, building automation, and electrical distribution. Leadership and management skills are also required.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop the onsite mechanical SME team
• Coordinate with local and global teams
• Provide technical expertise on mechanical infrastructure
• Contribute to safety programs
• Plan and oversee mechanical maintenance and repairs
• Support lifecycle management of mechanical systems
• Conduct troubleshooting and repairs
• Ensure system modifications comply with standards
• Oversee QA/QC of projects and maintenance
• Participate in root-cause analysis
• Monitor system health and implement corrective actions
• Train cross-functional teams
• Manage vendor relationships
• Provide feedback on maintenance strategies
• Travel as needed for training and collaboration

Minimum Qualifications

• 8+ years mechanical industry experience or related trade experience
• Bachelor’s degree plus 3+ years relevant experience, or 8+ years experience
• 3+ years in team management
• Knowledge of critical facility operations and procedures
• Experience with mechanical plans and drawings
• Understanding of psychrometrics and refrigeration cycles
• Knowledge of electrical and safety systems in critical environments
• Blueprint/CAD interpretation skills
• Collaborative work experience
• Proficiency with computer tools

Preferred Qualifications

• 7+ years in data centers or critical environments
• 7+ years management experience
• Trade certification or license in Mechanical (HVAC)
• Field service engineering experience
