Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ Salem VA Medical Center invites applications for a Maintenance Supervisor in the Facilities Management Service.

This first-line supervisory role leads the Mechanical Shop, consisting of pipefitters, plumbers and related trades, to maintain steam and plumbing systems and hospital equipment. You will manage schedules, safety compliance, budget input, and coordination with contractors and engineering staff.

Qualifications

• Evidence of training or experience showing ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions on your resume.
• Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, and blueprints is required.
• Experience leading or supervising maintenance trades is essential.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the Mechanical Shop and approximately four journeyman-level workers.
• Oversee maintenance and repair of steam, plumbing, and hospital systems to ensure safety and reliability.
• Ensure compliance with fire-safety, life-safety, water management, and VA regulations.
• Coordinate with contracted personnel and engineering staff to meet deadlines and quality standards.
• Participate in budget planning for Maintenance and Operations and advise management on staffing and equipment needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned and ensure proper documentation and reporting.
