Job summary

Stratus, a leading multidisciplinary engineering and design firm, seeks a Senior Project Manager II for mechanical/HVAC leadership in New York. You will manage multi-disciplinary teams, review site investigations, and drive designs for complex projects across multifamily, commercial, and industrial sectors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a mechanical or architectural engineering field required.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience designing mechanical and HVAC systems across a range of project types (e.g., commercial, residential).
• Experience working within New York City required and Tri-State Area regulatory environments preferred.
• Proficiency in Revit MEP and AutoCAD for mentoring junior engineer drafting tasks; experience with load/energy modeling and distribution calculations.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.
• Confident presenter with sound commercial awareness.
• Highly organized, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Manage technical and administrative aspects of mechanical and HVAC design service opportunities from proposal preparation to final acceptance by Client, including invoice and accounts/receivable.
• Review assessment information gathered during site investigations and ensure reports are clear and client-friendly.
• Lead mechanical engineering design across projects including multifamily, commercial, industrial, and retail with distribution and equipment considerations.
• Supervise staff designers and engineers to produce drawings and specifications aligned with codes and best practices.
• Periodically inspect work from contractors and staff and prepare summary documentation for presentation.
• Communicate with external clients, contractors, vendors, consultants, and authorities to ensure project success.
• Maintain project schedules, budgets, and staffing to deliver on client agreements.
• Mentor junior staff with technical guidance and feedback.
