Job summary

HF Sinclair Puget Sound Refining in Anacortes, WA is seeking a Mechanical Inspector to lead advanced inspection duties in the Mechanical Department. The role oversees others, liaises with departments, and supports pump repair planning and troubleshooting.

Required are at least five years as a machinist/millwright in refinery or chemical manufacturing, high school completion, and API/API CWI credentials may be location-dependent along with MS Office and SAP experience.

Qualifications

• Ability to lead and direct the work of other associates.
• Advanced knowledge of inspection methods and ability to apply this knowledge.
• Certifications in API-510, API-570, API-653, AWS CWI and ASNT SNT-TC-1A Level II in RT, UT, MT, PT, VT may be required depending on location.
• Computer programs familiarity with MS Office and data management programs in use within Inspection Department.
• Ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication, advanced reading and writing skills, and with the ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations.

Responsibilities

• Approve pump repair plans per Pump Repair Standards.
• Approve variances to Pump Repair Standards and provide follow-through to maintain minimum standards.
• Attend scope meeting for equipment repairs with shop supervisor and machinists.
• Troubleshoot equipment with maintenance prior to planning repairs.
• Provide technical direction to machinist millwrights as needed.
• Initiate and complete MOC on minor machinery changes.
• Assist auditors with quarterly repair reports in shop.
• Provide technical advice to turnaround group on upcoming work.
• Lead operations for troubleshooting and correct practices of operation for rotating equipment.
• Coordinate ordering and verification of upgrade parts with Machine Shop planner and Machinery Engineer.
• Submit Turbine OST deferrals for unavailable equipment.
