Job summary

Sila in Alameda is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to lead the design of manufacturing-scale reactors, bridging R&D concepts with capital project execution.

You will drive safety-by-design, provide high-fidelity thermo-fluid and structural modeling, and guide cross-functional teams through end-to-end project lifecycles. This role focuses on scalable equipment for silicon carbon anode manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• 10+ years of mechanical design experience in industrial equipment environments with a focus on large-scale manufacturing.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, Fusion 360, AutoCAD and development of P&IDs and fabrication packages.
• Strong technical expertise in reactor systems, thermal/fluid equipment, and fabrication methods.
• Analytical proficiency in FEA and thermal modeling with tolerancing.
• Working knowledge of mechanical codes, regulations, and PSM environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead design initiatives prioritizing simplicity and eliminating unnecessary requirements for efficient engineering.
• Lead mechanical design for manufacturing-scale reactors bridging R&D concepts to capital project execution.
• Provide high-fidelity thermal, fluid, and structural modeling (FEA) to validate reactor performance.
• Develop detailed engineering packages including layouts, IP drawings, data sheets, and specs.
• Drive safety and compliance by applying safety-by-design principles and supporting PSM programs.
