Job summary

Mesh Optical Technologies is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to own mechanical development across our hardware platform. You will design and analyze critical assemblies while building and leading a team to deliver them.

You will architect systems integrating optics, photonics, and advanced packaging for scalable autonomous manufacturing. You will mentor engineers, drive design-for-manufacturability, and partner with optical, electrical, firmware, and process teams to meet tight tolerances and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
• 4+ years of experience designing complex hardware systems with ownership through production ramp.
• Strong first-principles foundation in mechanics of materials, heat transfer, and tolerance analysis.
• Experience designing tight-tolerance precision assemblies with multi-domain interfaces.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD tools and structural analysis (FEA).
• Experience with suppliers/contract manufacturers for production readiness.
• Willingness to work extended hours and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical execution from concept through production ramp, designing and analyzing high-impact components.
• Translate product architecture into mechanical system strategy and tolerance architecture.
• Architect electro-mechanical assemblies for automated, scalable manufacturing.
• Lead structural, thermal, and reliability analysis; define validation strategies.
• Drive DFM/DFT and manage supplier readiness from prototyping to ramp.
• Interface with optical, electrical, firmware, and process teams to define interfaces.
• Provide day-to-day technical leadership to a growing team of mechanical engineers.
• Lead design reviews and ensure alignment with system requirements and quality targets.
• Establish mechanical design standards and documentation discipline.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to hiring and growth of the function.
