Job summary

LAPORTE is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to drive projects and lead a growing team in the design and management of mechanical and piping systems for pharmaceutical and food & beverage industries. You will develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs for HVAC, chilled water, heating, and plumbing systems, and mentor the mechanical team.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is required.
8+ years of design engineering experience in design consulting or similar.
Experience with HVAC design and central utilities (steam, chilled water, compressed air).
Knowledge of mechanical codes and standards (ASHRAE, ACGIH).
Familiarity with ISPE and HACCP requirements.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.

Responsibilities

Lead projects and a mechanical team independently.
Manage contracts and clients for MEP projects.
Quality review of deliverables and project execution (approx. 50% workload).
Design HVAC, hydronic, and steam systems (approx. 50% workload).
Develop scopes of work for mechanical or utility design from preliminary reviews and client meetings.
Prepare engineering studies and schematic designs for new systems and analyze existing systems.
Office presence required minimum 3 days per week.
