Job summary

Edison Smart is seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer (PE) to join our Buffalo, NY engineering team. You will lead mechanical building systems design, oversee project delivery from schematic through construction, and mentor junior engineers on a diverse portfolio of projects.

You will apply your expertise in HVAC, plumbing, and building systems, coordinate across disciplines, and engage with clients to advance design and performance goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Experience with HVAC and mechanical systems for buildings.
• Experience with Revit and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of ASHRAE standards, IMC, and building codes.
• Ability to lead and mentor engineering teams.
• Strong communication and project coordination skills.
• Experience in fast-paced consulting environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and coordination of mechanical building systems for a variety of project types.
• Manage deliverables from schematic design through construction administration.
• Perform calculations, load analysis, and equipment selection.
• Develop and review drawings, specs, reports, and construction documents.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and ensure system integration.
• Support client meetings, planning, and technical presentations.
• Conduct quality reviews to ensure code and standard compliance.
• Support sustainable design initiatives where appropriate.
