Job summary

U.S. Pacific Fleet seeks a professional engineer to lead troubleshooting during installation, grooming, or testing of fluid/mechanical ship systems on submarines and surface ships.

You will perform engineering and planning duties for repair, maintenance, and alterations, interfacing with multiple shops and ship’s force to develop repair plans and DFS-supported analyses. You will conduct independent studies, identify material needs, and establish engineering guidelines across technical work areas

Qualifications

• Specialized experience as a professional engineer repairing and maintaining non-nuclear mechanical/fluid submarine and surface ship systems.
• Ability to communicate technical requirements with production shops, ship force, and other engineering activities.
• Experience providing cost estimates, preparing technical work documents, and resolving deviations using engineering methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead troubleshooter for installation, grooming, or testing phase problems.
• Engineer and plan repairs, maintenance, and alterations of fluid/mechanical ship systems on submarines and surface ships.
• Interface with activities, production shops, and ship’s force to coordinate repair plans.
• Conduct independent studies and analyses to solve unusual engineering problems; support Departures from Specifications (DFS).
• Identify material requirements and resolve material deficiencies.
• Develop and define engineering guidelines and objectives for technical work areas.
