Job summary

AtkinsRéalis Lead Mechanical Engineer in Henderson, NV will guide mining and industrial projects, acting as discipline lead and technical authority for mechanical systems across concentrators and industrial facilities.

The role oversees deliverables, vendor documents, and design calculations while mentoring engineers and coordinating with process, structural, electrical and instrumentation teams; field support is common.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • PE license in the U.S. (Nevada preferred or reciprocity).
  • 15+ years of experience in industrial/mining projects.
  • Proven discipline lead or technical lead experience.
  • Strong knowledge of North American codes and standards (ASME, API, ANSI, AISC).
  • Proficient with Pipe-Flo, CAESAR II, and Sidewinder.
  • Excellent communication and mentoring abilities.
  • Fluent in English.

  • Act as Mechanical Discipline Lead on medium to large mining and industrial projects.
  • Serve as a technical authority for mechanical systems in concentrators and industrial facilities.
  • Oversee and ensure the performance of discipline deliverables across assigned projects.
  • Assess professional effort and provide visibility of progress and performance indicators.
  • Participate in conceptual, pre-feasibility, feasibility, and detailed engineering studies.
  • Lead and supervise the production of engineering deliverables (calculations, drawings, specs, reports).
  • Prepare or review technical specifications for procurement and installation of mechanical equipment.
  • Oversee design calculations (pumping systems, water/air networks, slurry systems, piping stress).
  • Lead the design of tanks, hoppers, chutes, pump boxes, material handling equipment and mechanical structures.
  • Review and validate P&IDs, data sheets, and vendor documentation.
  • Perform technical evaluations of vendor bids and proposals.
  • Supervise and mentor engineers, designers, and technicians.
  • Review and approve design calculations, quantity take-offs and cost estimates.
  • Ensure interdisciplinary coordination with process, structural, electrical, civil and instrumentation teams.
  • Support construction, commissioning and field activities as required.

Overview

We are seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Henderson, NV to support the continued growth of itsMinerals & Metals business .

The Henderson office supports mining, industrial and heavy process projects across North America, including concentrators, material handling systems, processing plants and large-scale industrial facilities. The team works on projects from early studies through detailed engineering and construction support, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams across the U.S. and Canada.

Your role
  • Act as Mechanical Discipline Lead on medium to large mining and industrial projects.
  • Serve as a technical authority for mechanical systems in concentrators and industrial facilities.

  • Assess professional effort and provide clear visibility of progress and performance indicators (CPI and SPI) for the discipline, as well as ETC.
  • Participate in conceptual, pre-feasibility, feasibility, and detailed engineering studies.

  • Prepare or review technical specifications for the procurement and installation of mechanical equipment.

About you
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the U.S. (Nevada preferred or ability to obtain through reciprocity).
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in industrial and/or mining projects.
  • Strong experience in mining, heavy industrial facilities, mineral processing plants or bulk material handling (major asset).
  • Proven experience as a discipline lead or technical lead.
  • Solid knowledge of North American codes and standards (ASME, API, ANSI, AISC, etc.).
  • Proficiency with engineering software such as Pipe-Flo, CAESAR II, Sidewinder (asset).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Willingness to mentor junior staff and contribute to technical excellence within the group.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).

Additional information

Expected compensation range is between $165,500 - $188,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
