Job summary

NYC School Construction Authority is seeking a Mechanical Engineer – Level B or C to design HVAC systems for NYC public schools. The role reports to a Managing Engineer/Architect and involves leading energy system design, calculations, and drawing production for education buildings.

Ideal candidates possess a NYS PE license, 3+ years post-licensure (6+ for Level C), and experience on medium to large commercial projects. Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate Degree in related discipline (required).
• Current NYS Professional Engineer license (required).
• 3+ years post-licensure experience; 2+ years as project engineer or equivalent (Level B).
• 6+ years post-licensure experience; 3+ years as project/leadership (Level C).
• Experience designing Mechanical systems for medium to large commercial buildings.

Responsibilities

• Develop HVAC energy system design; calculations, reports, and drawings using AutoCAD 2D/3D, Revit, Trace 700.
• Perform mechanical engineering analysis and load calculations for heating, cooling, ventilation per NYCECC & ASHRAE.
• Coordinate with energy piles/geothermal design; prepare scope, schematics, and construction documents.
• Supervise engineers/technicians; lead multiple complex CIP projects; ensure code compliance and on-time delivery.

Education

Baccalaureate Degree in related discipline from an accredited university/college

Professional Engineer - NYS Department of Education

Three years of full-time paid post-licensure experience as a Professional Engineer; two years as project engineer

Six years of full-time paid post-licensure experience as a Professional Engineer; three years as project leader
