Job summary

ANPC is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer in Hood River, OR to spearhead the mechanical design team and bridge avionics concepts to flight-ready hardware. The role blends hands-on design with people leadership on a hybrid onsite arrangement.

You will drive CAD/DFA/DFM best practices, lead DFMEA/PFMEA, and guide prototypes through qualification testing, ensuring compliance with aerospace standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
• 8+ years of progressive mechanical engineering experience in aerospace, defense, unmanned systems, or ruggedized electro-mechanical hardware.
• 2–3+ years of formal or informal technical leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Define best practices for CAD modelling, GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and drawing release workflows.
• Provide daily technical guidance, conduct peer design reviews, and mentor junior/mid-level engineers.
• Establish and control mechanical requirements for complex avionics packaging and flight hardware.
• Bridge design concepts to shop floor; apply DFM/DFA to ensure buildability.
• Lead DFMEA/PFMEA and perform hand calculations and FEA for structural, dynamic, thermal performance.
• Lead configuration control boards and MRBs; manage BOMs, ECOs, and CAPA.
• Oversee prototype testing and environmental qualification campaigns to validate hardware.
