Job summary

Bowman Houston is seeking a Designer V, Mechanical Oil & Gas to join our team. You will lead design efforts on projects of varying size, producing mechanical design deliverables within a multidisciplinary team and interacting with internal and external stakeholders.

The role requires strong CAD drafting skills, extensive experience, and the ability to work with minimal supervision while coordinating with engineers and vendors. On-site Houston opportunity with competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or associate degree or equivalent preferred.
• Ten or more (10+) years of relevant experience.
• Excellent facilitation, communication, and analytical skills – written and verbal.
• High level of personal integrity.
• Strong relationship capabilities.
• Proficient in both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Provides CAD drafting, prepares drawings and schematics from specifications, layouts, vendor data, and sketches.
• Coordinates with engineers or designers to complete projects per specifications and standards.
• Support equipment sizing, selection, and other deliverables.
• Support engineering, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of facilities.
• Present design deliverables to project members, cross‑functional teams, leadership, vendors, clients.
• Plan, forecast, and actualize deliverable progress for project reporting and scheduling.
• Identify scope changes and estimate impact to effort and schedule.
• Supports proposal efforts by evaluating RFP scope and estimating effort.
• Monitors progress and performance against the project plan.
• Provides input to strategic decisions affecting the functional area.
