Job summary

General Galactic in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer (Electric Propulsion) to own mechanical design work for propulsion hardware across our spacecraft product line. You will lead concepts through completion, selecting materials, performing finite-element and thermal analyses, and ensuring designs are manufacturable with DFMs.

Qualifications

• BS in mechanical/ aerospace engineering or similar.
• 3+ years hands-on mechanical design and analysis experience, preferably in aerospace.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the mechanical design of electric propulsion hardware, incl. thruster and cathode components, propellant management, secondary structures.
• Take designs from concept through completion: material selection, FEA, DFMs.
• Create CAD models and drawings with GD&T.
• Build and test designs in lab and iterate based on analyses.
• Create qualification and test plans; qualify designs via vibration, shock, TVAC, and other tests.
