Job Profile Title: Lead CAD Designer

How will you make an impact?
We are seeking a skilled Lead Mechanical CAD Designer to join our team, specializing in power distribution products and data center infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical components and systems that support electrical distribution, cooling solutions, and structural integrity within data centers and power distribution networks.
The Lead Mechanical CAD Designer – DCI will be responsible for creating detailed model designs, modifying existing designs, and working collaboratively with engineers and other team members to meet product specifications. The ideal candidate has in-depth knowledge of CAD software, is detail-oriented, and can effectively communicate design ideas. A strong understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, and material properties is critical. This role will involve selecting key components, component placement, selecting fastening methods, and transitioning design to manufacturing.
What will you do?
- Create detailed 2D and 3D mechanical designs and diagrams using CAD software.
- Proficiency in various CAD software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, PTC Creo, and Autodesk Inventor, to design, draft, and model complex mechanical equipment and systems.
- Proficiency in product lifecycle management systems, such as Windchill or similar.
- Utilize CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, PTC Creo) to create 3D models, technical drawings, and prototypes.
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and concepts to accurately create designs that meet technical specifications and standards.
- Perform tolerance stack-up & interference analysis to ensure proper fit, function, and manufacturability of mechanical components.
- Work closely with engineers and other designers to meet product specifications and performance requirements.
- Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
- Prepare and revise engineering drawings, schematics, BOMs, and layouts as required or release to manufacturing.
- Check and validate designs to ensure they meet required quality and safety standards.
- Ensure accuracy of measurements, dimensions, and design specifications with excellent attention to detail.
- Interpret complex technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications effectively.
- Design feasible and cost-effective mechanical components, considering manufacturing processes and materials.
- Conduct component selection for pipes, fittings, and valves based on fluid type, temperature, pressure, and corrosion resistance in chillers, HVAC systems, and liquid cooling loops.
- Evaluate and optimize manufacturing assembly processes by designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment, collaborating with vendors and production teams.
- Create detailed mechanical designs of components, sub-assemblies, and system integration.
- Manage relationships with mechanical component vendors and contract manufacturers.
- Stay updated with the latest technologies and methods to ensure competitive and cost-effective designs.
- Discuss with management and production staff to assess engineering feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
How will you get here?
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or relevant field is required.
Experience:
- 8–10 years’ experience in Mechanical Design within the power distribution or Data Center Industry.
- Proven experience as a CAD designer, preferably in a mechanical engineering environment.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar).
- Proficiency in PLM tools (Windchill).
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, integration strategy, and system coordination.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills for liaising with engineers, manufacturers, and clients.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

P04 Compensation Range: $103,000–$185,400
Target Annual Bonus: 15%
The pay range for this role is $103,000–$185,400. Factors influencing the actual offer include qualifications, experience, location, education, market data, and internal equity. The anticipated close date is July 31, 2025. This position is eligible for performance-based short-term incentives and benefits such as medical, dental, vision insurance, paid time off, parental leave, holidays, 401(k), and employee stock purchase plan.
