Job Profile Title: Lead CAD Designer

How will you make an impact?
We are seeking a skilled Lead Mechanical CAD Designer to join our team, specializing in power distribution products and data center infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical components and systems that support electrical distribution, cooling solutions, and structural integrity within data centers and power distribution networks.
The Lead Mechanical CAD Designer – DCI will create detailed model designs, modify existing designs, and collaborate with engineers and team members to meet product specifications. The ideal candidate has in-depth CAD software knowledge, is detail-oriented, and can communicate design ideas effectively. A strong understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, and material properties is essential. Responsibilities include component selection, placement, fastening methods, and transitioning designs to manufacturing.
What will you do?
- Create detailed 2D and 3D mechanical designs and diagrams using CAD software.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, PTC Creo, and Autodesk Inventor for designing complex mechanical systems.
- Utilize product lifecycle management systems like Windchill.
- Design, draft, and model prototypes using CAD tools.
- Apply mechanical engineering principles to meet technical specifications and standards.
- Perform tolerance stack-up and interference analysis for proper fit and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with engineers and designers to meet performance requirements.
- Revise designs to address deficiencies or reduce production issues.
- Prepare and revise engineering drawings, schematics, BOMs, and layouts for manufacturing.
- Validate designs against quality and safety standards.
- Ensure accuracy in measurements, dimensions, and specifications.
- Interpret complex technical drawings and blueprints.
- Design feasible and cost-effective components considering manufacturing processes and materials.
- Conduct component selection for pipes, fittings, and valves based on operational factors.
- Optimize manufacturing assembly processes through design and testing.
- Manage relationships with vendors and manufacturers.
- Stay updated with latest technologies and methods.
- Discuss feasibility and costs with management and production teams.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
How will you get here?
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or relevant field.
Experience:
- 8–10 years’ experience in Mechanical Design within power distribution or Data Center industry.
- Proven CAD design experience, preferably in a mechanical engineering environment.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar).
- Proficiency in PLM tools like Windchill.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and integration strategies.
- Excellent problem-solving and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills for liaising with engineers, manufacturers, and clients.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:
