Purpose

Colonna's Shipyard is seeking a Services Electrician Supervisor to support the day shift of the Temporary Services Department in Norfolk, VA.

Position Summary

The position supports management with training and assignment of trades personnel to meet production goals in ship repair/industrial fabrication. It is an onsite role in Norfolk, VA, often requiring flexible hours and occasional travel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Execute routine and non-routine production duties supporting operational goals.
• Perform skilled tasks related to maintenance, repair, installation, and new construction in ship repair/industrial fabrication.
• Support management in daily production activities, ensuring safety and efficiency.
• Assist with timekeeping, training, performance management, and supervision of team members.
• Break down production requirements into actionable plans, monitor job sites, and support safety, quality, and schedule goals.
• Contribute to project planning and resource allocation to meet operational requirements.
• Evaluate work environments for safety and efficiency before starting work.
• Ensure compliance with technical specifications, drawings, and procedures.

Additional Responsibilities

• Review project specs and support procurement of materials.
• Generate and submit production and quality reports.
• Manage tools and resources, report equipment issues.
• Support inspections and serve as backup supervisor as needed.
• Contribute to project scheduling and progress updates.
• Install and connect temporary shore power and services to vessels and support equipment.
• Lay out, install, and maintain piping and hydraulic systems.
• Disconnect and reconnect electrical equipment, align or replace motor components.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, with 6+ years of related trade experience.
• At least 6 years of electrical field experience.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and perform physically demanding tasks.

Desired Qualifications

• Previous supervisory or mentoring experience.

Security & Travel Requirements

• Must access government facilities and be DBIDS eligible.
• US Citizenship required.
• Minimal travel, approximately 10% or less.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift heavy equipment (at least 20 lbs).
• Work in extreme environments, including ships and industrial settings.
• Operate trucks, forklifts, and man-lifts.
• Perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and working in extreme temperatures.
