JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Lead Mechanic

Department: Maintenance

Reports To: Project Manager

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Coordinate with the Supervisor / Foreman for the scheduling and assignment of daily job tasks.
  2. Lead and direct subordinate crewmembers in the performance of job tasks. Ensure that productivity and work quality are satisfactory.
  3. Ensure that all identified maintenance discrepancies are documented.
  4. Perform troubleshooting and assist in determining the proper course of maintenance action when a discrepancy is found.
  5. Assist subordinate crewmembers with interpreting maintenance manuals or SRM instructions.
  6. Ensure that all maintenance performed by subordinate crewmembers complies with approved maintenance data, such as the AMM, SRM, CMMs, WDM, Service Bulletins, EAs, etc., and is properly documented.
  7. Provide on-the-job training (OJT) as necessary to subordinate crewmembers.
  8. Oversee subordinate crewmembers and assist the Supervisor / Foreman in identifying training or remedial training needs.
  9. Assist subordinate crewmembers in accomplishing assigned tasks.
  10. Help identify safety-related deficiencies alongside the Supervisor / Foreman.
  11. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor / Foreman.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must be able to work overtime, including weekends and days off.

FAA Airframe and/or Powerplant license is required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma; minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance and repair of commercial aircraft.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, write, and understand spoken and written English. Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence. Able to give verbal and written instructions to staff.
