Terracare Associates is currently looking for Lead Mechanic with experience operating heavy duty trucks and snow plow equipment. If that’s you, apply for a position at one of the fastest growing outdoor maintenance companies in the country.

Job Description

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with Project and Fleet Managers to assess equipment needs and repair problems by using the most cost-effective practices.
  • Monitor and schedule preventative maintenance and repair operations.
  • Maintain and provide a report of all repairs and maintenance actions including parts and labor time on each piece of equipment.
  • Stay within monthly and yearly shop budgets.
  • Perform mechanical work using conventional hand and power tools in a safe and productive manner.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems and work to proactively maintain fleet and equipment.
  • Run equipment and service truck for truck/equipment repairs outside of shop and facility needs.
  • General shop and office upkeep.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Ideal candidate would possess the following:

  • 10+ years experience in heavy truck along with snowplow equipment.
  • Proficiency in using computer diagnostics software to pinpoint engine, hydraulic, electrical, or electronic issues.
  • Experience with equipment including heavy construction equipment, snow plows, sanders, class 8 tandem axle dump trucks, medium duty dump trucks, light duty pick-ups, tractors, etc.
  • Strong experience with engine repairs on International, Cummins, Cat, etc.
  • Ability to manage workload in cold weather for long hours at times.
  • Ability to order parts as needed.
  • Driven to teach and mentor less experienced mechanics.
  • Full set of tools required for heavy truck maintenance.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Availability to work nights and weekends as required.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs consistently.
  • Proficient in welding and operating cutting torch/plasma cutter.
  • Ability to properly diagnose issues and operate diagnostic software.
  • Willingness to work outside and in inclement weather when needed.
  • Willingness to go on service calls when needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of heavy equipment, diesel, hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting/repair.
  • Knowledge of snow removal equipment and safe operating procedures.
  • Strong conflict resolution and critical thinking skills.
  • Efficient multi-tasking ability.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and internal computer programs.
  • Possess a Class B unrestricted CDL and ability to meet company guidelines for driver eligibility.
  • Experience with Navistar engines.
  • Experience with snow plow/spreader systems.

Please note that the salary information shown below is provided in compliance with state specific laws. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations, and therefore may be different in other locations or operating divisions.

Pay range: $32.00 - $42.00
