Qualifications

Job description

Join to apply for the Lead Mechanic role at WIN Waste Innovations.

WIN Waste Innovations is seeking a Lead Mechanic responsible for installation, troubleshooting, cleaning, inspection, and maintenance of mechanical equipment across the facility, ensuring safety and professionalism. The role involves indirect leadership of Mechanical Maintenance activities, coordination with Operations Supervisors, and ensuring availability of tooling and materials for Work Orders. All activities are to be reported to the Supervisor and management team promptly.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee work-orders, requisitions, and documentation of critical information regularly.
  • Proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management System (Tabware).
  • Work scheduled and unscheduled overtime; respond to off-hour emergency repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic equipment.
  • Operate mobile equipment such as forklifts, manlifts, and skid steer loaders.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance safely, complying with regulations and policies.
  • Identify and repair safety hazards.
  • Work safely at heights, in confined spaces, and with PPE.
  • Communicate effectively via radio and face-to-face.
  • Participate in operational support activities like inspections and cleaning.
  • Use machine shop tools and maintain hand and power tools properly.
  • Travel to other facilities as needed for technical support.
  • Proactively address improvement opportunities and assist in training.
  • Lead and direct maintenance tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Complete required training programs.
  • Use measurement tools accurately for maintenance tasks.
  • Follow safety and environmental procedures, reporting hazards immediately.
  • Maintain environmental and safety compliance.
  • Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and provide expertise on equipment.
  • Serve as Facility Subject Matter Expert in waste-to-energy or similar industries.
  • Proficient in welding and related practices.
Preferred Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Technical schooling experience.
  • At least 8 years' experience in industrial or power industry maintenance, or 2 years as a 1st class Mechanic.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to read and record measurements precisely.
  • Skills in welding, soldering, brazing, and pipe fitting.
  • Positive communication and teamwork skills.
Certificates and Licenses

Licenses as required by applicable regulatory agencies.

Physical Requirements
  • Handling tools and equipment, fine motor skills.
  • Reach, climb, walk at heights over 4 feet.
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
