Job summary

Qualifications

• Vocational/Technical degree highly desired.
• Hydraulic, electrical, and diesel maintenance experience highly desired.

• Must pass Background check, drug screen, and physical.
• Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus.
• Ability to carry out written or oral instructions.
• Ability to communicate and perform basic math as required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair fuel, electrical, mechanical, brake, cooling and hydraulic systems on a wide range of equipment.
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on heavy equipment per manufacturer and company guidelines.
• Maintain accurate service records.
• Assist in ordering and maintaining spare parts inventory.
• Coordinate with yard managers to schedule maintenance or repairs.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area.
• Safely use vehicles, equipment, and tools.
• Adhere to SA Recycling safety and environmental procedures.
• Work well in a team environment.

Job description

We are looking for hard-working, reliable and safety minded individuals to join our team as a Lead Mechanic. In this role you will be responsible for the timely and effective maintenance, trouble shooting, and repair of various brands and types of heavy equipment. This will include electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical diagnostics, parts inventory and ordering, report writing, and scheduling. This position is based at our Norcross yard. Must conduct themselves professionally when dealing with customers and other employees.

This position will work in varying weather conditions, and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

Responsibilities

• Conducting basic to moderately complex diagnostic, troubleshooting, and service and repair tasks for fuel, electrical, mechanical, brake, and cooling and hydraulic systems on a wide range of equipment.
• Conducting routine and preventative maintenance tasks (oil and filter changes, lubrication, brake, etc.) on all Heavy Equipment per manufacturer and SA Recycling recommendations.
• Conducting in Maintaining accurate service records on all work performed.
• Assists in the order and maintain spare parts inventory.
• Interact with yard General Managers to schedule routine or emergency maintenance or repairs.
• Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly working area.
• Safe and proper use of assigned vehicles, equipment, and tools.
• Performs all tasks fully within SA Recycling’s Safety and Environmental practices and procedures.
• Able to work well with others in a team player environment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
