Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair or adjust parts on equipment, trucks, and vehicles.
  • Keep maintenance records.
  • Place orders for parts and supplies needed for equipment repair or services.
  • Recommend purchases of new equipment and supplies or outsourcing of repairs.
  • Maintain miscellaneous equipment in the yard or at customer sites (e.g., mags, bins, silos, containers, pumps).
  • Maintain tools and equipment provided by Austin Powder Company.
  • Order and stock parts according to usage records, using designated suppliers.
  • Perform or schedule all fleet repairs and maintenance with proper documentation to meet regulatory agency and APC policies.
  • Keep the garage and work area clean and organized.
  • Report employee, vendor, or equipment issues to the Location Manager.
  • Develop and maintain positive work relationships with co‑workers, customers, vendors, and government agencies.
  • Display honest and ethical work behaviors in pursuit of APC business goals.
  • Maintain a safe working environment in compliance with all regulations and APC policies.
  • Maintain all required licenses and/or certifications needed to perform mechanical duties and operate equipment at the location.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • 21+ years of age as required by DOT.
  • 5 years of mechanic experience.
  • 2 years of driving experience with a Class B CDL.
  • CDL – Class B with hazardous material (hazmat) and tanker endorsement (preferred).
Skills and Knowledge
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with situations where limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, product bulletins, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to identify products by sight.
  • Ability to speak effectively with employees and customers.
Work Environment
