Job summary

Lime in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Lead Mechanic to guide a team of Mechanics and Senior Mechanics, assign daily tasks, and ensure workflow remains efficient. You’ll train new team members, monitor performance, and maintain safety and quality checks before deployment of vehicles.

You will also manage battery operations, inventory of tools and parts, and basic in-field repairs from brakes to cleaning. Occasional forklift or pallet jack use may be required, and operating a van for

  • Must be able to train and lead a team of Mechanics and Senior Mechanics.
  • Experience performing safety and quality checks on fleet vehicles.
  • Ability to use data/KPIs to inform staffing and maintenance decisions.
  • Comfort with basic in-field repairs from brakes to vehicle cleaning.
  • Forklift or pallet jack operation knowledge required or willingness to certify.

We are looking for Lead Mechanics to lead our team of Mechanics and Senior Mechanics while helping to maintain our fleet of shared vehicles. This role is ideal for mechanically-inclined operations professionals that want to broaden and build their career experiences. Teamwork is at the heart of our operation, as mechanics work together to identify critical parts of our product lines that can be improved and ensure the safe working condition of our fleet.

What you’ll do:
  • Onboard, train, and lead a team of Mechanics and Senior Mechanics while assigning daily tasks as needed and ensuring workflow is efficient

  • Maintain a team oriented environment and integrate new Mechanics to the team

  • Evaluate and provide feedback to manager on team performance

  • Ensure operational compliance and safety of all vehicles by completing quality checks prior to their departure from the warehouse for deployment

  • Follow established safety procedures to ensure Lime riders are on the safest vehicles

  • Ensure accurate documentation of completed quality checks for vehicles and parts

  • Manage battery operations such as inspection, rotation, check in/out, and more

  • Support inventory management and organization of tools, parts, and vehicles

  • May assist with any level of tire maintenance including changes, inflation, or assembly

  • Identify issues and perform small repairs on vehicles in field from brake adjustments to vehicle cleaning to ensure vehicles are in optimal working condition

  • Maintain and abide by safety and hygiene standards within the warehouse

  • Perform in warehouse repairs from basic maintenance to complex electronic part replacement

  • Maximize the number of operational vehicles by efficiently completing tasks assigned

  • May be required to safely operate a push cart, pallet jack, and/or forklift to move vehicle inventory. Where applicable, forklift certification will be necessary.

  • Safely operate a van to assist with the deployment and retrieval of Lime electric vehicles within the local market as needed

  • Additional job related tasks as assigned

About you:
  • Must be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver license and good driving record

  • 1 year of experience in a similar industry; with the ability to train others preferredAbility to work various shifts including evenings and weekends

  • Ability to lift up to 65lbs / 35 kg on a frequent basis required

  • An understanding of workforce management to help Ops Management ensure efficient staffing

  • Comfortable learning and adapting to new concepts and using new tools

  • Ability to use data to inform decision making; and understand KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to make an impact

  • Knowledge of cell phone applications. iOS experience preferred

  • Experience safely operating a pallet jack or push cart. Where markets require the use of a forklift, Lime will coordinate a certification

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform quick and efficient repairs

  • Self-motivated with and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage daily tasks

  • A safety-oriented mindset, capable of conducting rigorous quality checks

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with team members at all levels
